National School Counselor Week! Sonora appreciates Mrs. Harp! My role as a school counselor is to consistently innovate a quality counseling program to meet the ever changing needs of the students. By meeting social/emotional needs students can advance academically and achieve long and short term goals. I advocate for students and collaborate with parents and teachers to provide equality and access for all students. I am an integral part of the educational team by helping students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors. I believe being a counselor is very important because students need an advocate. Students need to be heard and seen to be their best. Students need to development healthy social/emotional skills and I assist them. I can help set students up to succeed and that is the reason I show up every day. Parents: The job of a school counselor is to help the student by involving all the stakeholders. Parents play a huge role in creating a healthy, successful child. Please remember you can reach out to me anytime.
